“Petty Country” to Showcase 20 Songs
Dozens of country artists are included, first single is “American Girl”
A little over a year ago, after Chris Stapleton’s magnificent version of “The Star Spangled Banner” at the Super Bowl, we explored the connection between Stapleton and Petty which began when Petty criticized modern Country music.
Their subsequent relationship was positive, and an immensely popular topic, which bodes well for a new endeavor due out May 31st — a country tribute album called “Petty Country,” which will kick off with Stapleton covering “I Should Have Known It.”
It will single-handedly improve Country music in ways Petty surely would have approved.
The songlist and artists involved are both top-tier:
“I Should Have Known It” – Chris Stapleton
“Wildflowers” – Thomas Rhett
“Runnin’ Down a Dream” – Luke Combs
“Southern Accents” – Dolly Parton
“Here Comes My Girl” – Justin Moore
