Introducing . . . Frank Christy
After 10+ years as a founding member, Bob Letourneux prepares to depart
This year is a proving to be a big one for the Petty Larceny Band.
In May, our founder and original keyboard player, Bob Dec, retired from the band, which coincided with his retirement from teaching. Bob now resides in slightly warmer climes, and has come to see the band a few times since. (His replacement is proving sufficient, fortunately.)
Now, for the second time in a year, a founding member — in fact, the band’s last founding member — has decided to step aside. Bob Letourneux, our excellent and affable bass player, will be leaving Petty Larceny before the end of the year.
This leaves us fresh out of Bobs, you may notice . . .
We’ve known this for a while, and arranged to audition a number of potential replacements. After some stiff competition and awesome auditions, we are thrilled to welcome Frank Christy as the new bass player for the Petty Larceny Band!
Frank has been part of the Worcester music scene going back to the ‘80s. He has played with many local artists ranging from coffeehouse singer-songwriters to a full Motown horn band. He was with the Groove Street Band for almost a decade. When they disbanded, he formed Vinyl Junkies with his wife Lisa.
As a long-time fan of Classic Rock and Tom Petty in particular, Frank says he is honored to join Petty Larceny, and fulfill his joy to bring music to its fans.
We look forward to many great times with Frank on bass, and will let you know when he will make his debut. Bob may be stepping aside, but he’s going to be holding down the groove for a while as Frank gets ready to play a lot of Petty.
In the meantime, our hats off to Bob Letourneux, who has been integral to making Petty Larceny rock for more than a decade! We love you, man!
Rock ‘n’ roll!!
Wow!! Great Job Frank! I heard even Geddy Lee auditioned!
Congratulations Frank Christy! Congratulations Petty Larceny you’ve got yourself a fantastic bass player!
